When I first learned of the Global Citizenship I figured I already had it finished. That was until I realized how much reflection is required. While I had plenty of experiences with different cultures, I had never really considered my role in them and what made me different from the others. The FYEX course helped me realized this (Self 2). I left the course with an understanding that as much as someone may wish to claim cultures are independent and separate, every culture is impacted and influenced by those around it. Likewise, even though I think of myself primarily as American, I am also defined by the different countries I have lived in and my Hispanic roots.
